Bitecofer recaps the major events of the 2016 general election starting with the party conventions and ending with Donald Trump’s unexpected victory on Election Day. Both party conventions begin mired in speculation about brokered conventions and delegate revolts. As the general election moves on, the Trump campaign is plagued by scandals, most of which are unforced errors by their nominee. Heading into Election Day, Hillary Clinton’s victory is all but guaranteed until the polls close in Florida and the state’s 29 Electoral College votes are added to Donald Trump’s total. With one candidate earning 3 million more popular votes and the other candidate winning the Electoral College, the 2016 presidential election ends with one final unprecedented act.
