SummaryAfter several improvements in the electronmicroscopical procedure a satisfactory resolution was obtained of the ultrastructural features of the halotolerant yeastDebaryomyces hansenii. An elaborate system of compartmentation structure was revealed. By analysis of serial sections its origin in plasma membrane and extension into the vacuole could be followed.
