Abstract Various heterocyclic aminostannanes have been prepared from imidazole, pyrazole, 1,2,4-triazole and benzotriazole. The structure of the corresponding azole organotin compounds depends on the position of the nitrogen atoms in the aromatic ring. Heterocycles with at least two nitrogens in the 1,3 position in the ring give the corresponding organotin derivatives which have a polymeric structure. However, pyrazole-organotin amines have a quite different character. These are monomeric species with a very fast exchange of the SnR3 group between the two nitrogen atoms.
