The reaction of germanium(i) pyridyl-1-azaallyl dimer [(RGe)2] (2) [R = {N(SiMe3)C(Ph)C(SiMe3)(C5H4N-2)}] with an excess of elemental sulfur afforded an unprecedented germanium analogue of a dithiocarboxylic acid anhydride [{Ge(S)R}2S] (4). The X-ray structures of 2 and 4 have been determined.
