Many reports have confirmed that MG is frequently accompanied by other forms of autoimmune disease (AD). Most of these studies, however, are isolated case reports of patients with MG and AD, and they cannot provide a correct overall picture of the association of MG and AD. In this study, the clinical characteristics of MG with AD were investigated. Included in this study were 282 thymectomized MG patients. These included 79 patients with thymomatous MG and 33 patients with MG and AD. The prognosis for MG was evaluated in patients with nonthymomatous MG who underwent the extended thymectomy.'
