Bringing in embeddedness is a step forward for the interdisciplinary literature on informality. As demonstrated above, the concept helps overcome binary distinctions between formal and informal, and allows for a dialectic reconnection of the two. However, the future research needs to embed embeddedness inside existing debates around the concept. Offering clear definitions of the concept and justifying the conceptual choices will only help the researchers strengthen their arguments on the usefulness of observing and understanding the embeddedness of informal practices.
