Electrically conducting lonomers, with conductivity higher than 30 S cm–1, were prepared in aqueous solutions by a two-step chemical–electrochemical process; polypyrrole was implanted chemically in home-made lonomers in an oxidative polymerization stage, while the reduced polymerization reagent was re-oxidized anodically to close a catalytic cycle.
