THE ROLE OF TYRAMINE IN THE AETIOLOGY OF MIGRAINE, AND RELATED STUDIES ON THE CEREBRAL AND EXTRACEREBRAL CIRCULATIONS

MIGRAINE IS NO NEW affliction of mankind. It was mentioned 3,500 years ago in the oldest complete medical book known to be in existence. This was found in the Tomb of Thebes at the end of the 19th Century, and is called the Ebers Papyrus, after the name of its discoverer, George Ebers (1837-1898). The book mentions "a sickness of half of the head", a description which has scarcely been improved upon over the years. In another extract from ancient manuscripts, the Sumerian account of the deluge, we read of a vision of heaven.
