Resumen El analisis de las proteinas en los liquidos biologicos se ha utilizado desde hace mucho tiempo para el diagnostico y el seguimiento de un gran numero de enfermedades. Primero fue la cuantificacion de las proteinas totales, luego la separacion electroforetica de las proteinas y mas tarde la cuantificacion de proteinas especificas mediante inmunoanalisis. Estas proteinas se emplean como marcadores biologicos (biomarcadores) de enfermedad. Desde hace unos pocos anos la proteomica permite el analisis simultaneo de cientos de proteinas, asi como el analisis de sus modificaciones estructurales. En esta revision se presenta el estado actual de la proteomica clinica en el descubrimiento de nuevos biomarcadores en los liquidos biologicos.
