In an attempt to demonstrate a relationship between impulsivity and risk taking, the risk-taking behavior of 40 highly impulsive institutionalized children was compared with that of 40 children rated low on impulsivity. Analysis yielded 35 comparisons, only one of which was significant at .05. As none of the seven Pearson correlations was significant data did not support the often assumed relationship between impulsivity and risk taking.
