Old Newspapers and Historic Editions: Now you can access these stories from your phone or laptop

Imagine if it was possible to search and access all the world’s newspapers from the past, online and for free. All the hardcopy newspapers you or your parents, grandparents, and great grandparents used to buy from the kiosk, or the ones newsboys would deliver to your door.

Today this is possible thanks to two great initiatives, Elephind and ICON, where their aim is to digitize historic newspapers so that we can all access them. To view these archives simply click on either one of the two links below:

Elephind: Search the World’s Historical Newspaper Archive
The purpose of Elephind is to make it possible to search all of the world’s free digital newspapers from one place and at one time.

ICON: International Coalition on Newspapers, International Collections
Newspaper digitization project that links to past, present, and prospective digitization projects of historic newspapers. The focus is primarily on digital conversion efforts.

You might also need to reference all the newspapers you find for an essay, project, report, or presentation. That’s where Citationsy can give you a hand.
